A fronteira galego-portuguesa conta cunha riqueza cultural que a fai exclusiva. Durante décadas, ambos os lados da raia estiveron fortemente ligados, con sistemas económicos interdependentes e con relacións sociais constantes. Esta interacción constante provocou que a lingua falada a un lado e outro da raia comparta características que a fan identificarse como a mesma. As propias relacións sociais poderán explicar o porque das percepcións e actitudes que teñen galegos e portugueses da comunidade veciña.
Esta investigación fundaméntase nun traballo de campo desenvolvido na comarca galega de Verín e no distrito portugués de Vila Real, territorios limítrofes. A través das declaracións dos falantes tentouse analizar ata que punto as actitudes e as percepcións lingüísticas son reflexo das propias relacións sociais entre galegos e portugueses. Palabras chave: fronteira galego-portuguesa, actitudes lingüísticas, percepcións lingüísticas.

The Galician-Portuguese border. Linguistic attitudes and perceptions

The Galician-Portuguese border has a cultural richness that makes it exclusive. For decades, both sides of the line have been strongly linked, with interdependent economic systems and constant social relations. This constant interaction has caused the language spoken on either side of the line to share characteristics that make it identify as the same. The social relations themselves will be able to explain the reason for the perceptions and attitudes of Galicians and Portuguese in the neighbouring community. This research is based on fieldwork carried out in the Galician region of Verín and in the Portuguese district of Vila Real, bordering territories. Through the statements of the speakers, an attempt was made to analyse the extent to which linguistic attitudes and perceptions are a reflection of the social relations between Galicians and Portuguese. Key words: Galician-Portuguese border, linguistic attitudes, linguistic perceptions.
