Presentamos los resultados de la investigación arqueológica y documental sobre el yacimiento del castillo de Vilvestre. Aunque conocido a través de dispersas referencias bibliográficas y documentales no es sino hasta un hecho fortuito y la consecuente excavación cuando se recupera físicamente una parte sustancial de la fortificación. La intervención ha permitido definir la secuencia arquitectónica, revelando dos fases constructivas: inicios de la segunda mitad del siglo XV y mediados del siglo XVII. Este marco cronológico nos ha permitido relacionar con una serie de acontecimientos históricos de índole transfronteriza cada una de estas fases.

Here we show the results of the archaeological and documentary research dealing with the "castillo de Vilvestre" site. Through it is know through several different bibliographical and documentary references until a fortuitus discovery and its consequent excavation a substantial part of the fortification was not phisically recuperated. The excavation allowed us to define the architectural secuence which reveals two building stages: the beginning of the second half of the fifteenth century and mid seventeenth century. This cronological setting has allowed us to aáociate each of this stages with a series of historical events coming from territories beyond the border.
