Este artículo estudia el grado de vitalidad, así como la situación sociolingüística, del portugués en varias localidades fronterizas situadas del lado español. Se describen las razones históricas que han llevado a que se hable portugués en esos territorios, se da cuenta de los principales estudios realizados sobre esas zonas a lo largo de los años y se informa sobre los hallazgos del proyecto de investigación Frontera hispano-portuguesa (FRONTESPO). Palabras clave: frontera España-Portugal, frontera lingüística, dialectología, portugués, corpus oral.

This article studies the degree of vitality, as well as the sociolinguistic situation of Portuguese in several border localities on the Spanish side of the border. It describes the historical reasons that have led to Portuguese being spoken in these territories, gives an account of the main studies carried out on these areas over the years and reports on the findings of the research project Frontera Hispano-Portuguese Border (FRONTESPO). Keywords: Portugal-Spain border, linguistic border, dialectology, Portuguese, oral corpus.
