A consecuencia de la sublevación militar de 18 de julio se dirigieron a la frontera portuguesa de la villa de Barrancos miles de refugiados que intentaron escapar a la violencia. Este acontecimiento histórico tuvo múltiples consecuencias a través de la acción de los individuos, provocando simultáneamente una ruptura en la inteligibilidad social y marcando un antes y un después en la memoria de los barranqueños. Para interpretar la acción de los individuos ante los acontecimientos construimos como modelo de análisis la horizontalidad de las relaciones de poder en la vida cotidiana, integrando al Estado como parte de los elementos constitutivos de las relaciones sociales.

In sequence of the coup d’état that took place in July the 18th of 1936, thousands of Spanish refugees ran towards the Portuguese border of the village of Barrancos, escaping from violence. The historical happening in question unleashed a multiplicity of repercussions through the action of individuals, causing simultaneously a rupture in the social inteligibility, and underlining a before and after in the colective memory of the Barranquenhos. By interpreting the action of the individuals faced by these happenings, we build as a model of analysis the horizontalness in the relations of power established in a daily life basis, integrating the State as one of the many constitutional elements of social relations.
