This paper shows the usefulness of the glossaries included in many dialectal dissertations in order to understand better the vocabulary attached to any semantic field, not just those most related to material culture. To this end, these glossaries processed for the project Tesouro Dialectal Português (TEDIPOR) have been analyzed to extract all the vocabulary related to love relationships. Those forms were checked in several Portuguese dictionaries, and this comparative examination revealed that more than 60% of these words weren’t collected in those lexicographic works. Therefore, is evident that dialectal dissertations are very important sources of information and therefore, it should be a crucial task to make them available to scientific community.
