Los acontecimientos relacionados con la salud pública en Badajoz capital son estudiados en el periodo de 1846-1883 en las Actas Capitulares del Ayuntamiento, donde las grandes preocupaciones son la traída de las aguas potables a la ciudad, la construcción del Alcantarillado, la salida extramuros de la basura y del estiércol, así como que se mejore el acerado y empedrado de las calles. Existe un interés por ayudar a los más desvalidos de la sociedad, muestra de ello es las medidas que se toman para ayudar a los jornaleros.
