Análise da paisagem linguística de Valencia de Alcántara e de outras localidades fronteiriças com Portugal pertencentes ao seu concelho. Devido ao seu contacto com a língua portuguesa, esta região tem especial interesse do ponto de vista sociolinguístico. Neste trabalho, analisar-se-á a presença do português falado no outro lado da fronteira, o português falado tradicionalmente nas aldeias fronteiriças espanholas e o português antigo que se falou em Valencia de Alcántara na Idade Média. Propomos uma metodologia adaptada a esta realidade, muito diferente da metodologia utilizada noutros trabalhos que se levaram a cabo em regiões espanholas onde existem dois idiomas oficiais. Palavras-chave: paisagem linguística – Valencia de Alcántara – fronteira hispano-portuguesa – língua portuguesa.

The image of Portuguese language in the Portugal-Spain border: linguistic landscapes in the region of Valencia de Alcántara 

Analysis of the linguistic landscape of Valencia de Alcántara and some towns bordering with Portugal on its region. Due to the contact with the portuguese language, the place subject of study is a zone of special interest from the sociolinguistic point of view. In this paper, we will analyse the portuguese spoken on the other side of the border, on the border towns between Spain and Portugal and the old portuguese spoken in Valencia de Alcantara during the Middle Ages. We propose a methodology adapted to this reality, much different from the methodology followed on other researche conducted on another spanish regions where two official languages coexists. Keywords: linguistic landscape – Valencia de Alcántara – SpanishPortuguese border – portuguese language.
