A língua e a cultura mirandesas constituem os pilares do património material e imaterial do Planalto Mirandês tomando esta região, do ponto de vista histórico, linguístico e cultural, como uma oportunidade ímpar de desenvolvimento turístico. Conscientes de que o turismo é, atualmente, uma das atividades que mais contribui para a sobrevivência de numerosos territórios, acreditamos que a atividade turística tira partido económico dos recursos existentes e constitui um importante fator desincentivador do processo de despovoamento. O turismo constitui, per se, uma forma de preservar o património cultural. No trabalho que abordamos, o concelho de Miranda do Douro tem-se vindo a assumir como um território com potencialidades turísticas ao incrementar a oferta turística através de infraestruturas e implementando programas de animação cultural e turística diversificados. Desta forma, após uma breve apresentação histórica e geográfica da cidade transmontana, pretendemos analisar a importância da língua, da cultura e da etnografia locais propondo, posteriormente, estratégias e propostas que possam promover a região como destino turístico dentro e fora do país. Para o efeito, entendemos fazer uma análise através da recriação de algumas tradições que incentivem a promovam a língua mirandesa por via das suas tradições e memória coletiva, ou seja, na identidade cultural de um povo. Palavras-chave: língua e cultura mirandesas, turismo, património material e imaterial.

The Mirandese language and culture constitutes the pillars of the material and immaterial heritage of the Mirandese Plateau, thus making this region, in a historic, linguistic and cultural point of view, a unique opportunity for tourism development. Fully aware that tourism is, currently, one of the activities that most contributes to the survival of numerous territories, we believe that the tourist activity takes an economic advantage of the existing resources and constitutes an important discouraging factor of the depopulation process. Tourism is, per se, a way of preserving cultural heritage. Within the work we are discussing, the municipality of Miranda do Douro has established itself as a territory with tourist potential by increasing the tourist offer through infrastructures and implementing, among other activities, diversified cultural and touristic animation programmes. By doing so, and after a brief historical and geographical presentation of this town of Trás-os- Montes, we intend to analyze the importance of the local language, culture and ethnography, subsequently proposing strategies and proposals in order to promote the region as a tourist destination both inside and outside the country. For the purpose, we perceive an analysis through the recreation of a few traditions that stimulate and promote the Mirandese language by way of its traditions and collective memory, in other words, through the people's cultural identity. Keywords: Mirandese language and culture, tourism, material and immaterial heritage.
