La epidemia de cólera de 1855 en Olivenza

A lo largo de las presentes páginas, revisaremos lo acontecido en Olivenza durante la epidemia que asolaba España entre los años de 1854 y 1856. La documentación conservada por uno de los médicos que la combatieron, arroja nueva luz sobre lo acaecido durante el verano de 1855, obligando a una reinterpretación en cuanto al papel desempeñado por los protagonistas de la épica lucha contra la mortal enfermedad. No es, por tanto, un estudio exhaustivo de todo lo que rodeó a la epidemia, sino un análisis del papel jugado por diversos profesionales y la influencia que pudieron tener en el curso de la enfermedad.

Along present pages, we will check it happened at Olivenza during the epidemic that destroyed Spain between years 1854 to 1856. The documentation preserved by one of the doctors who attacked it, throws a new light about happened during summer of 1855, forcing to a reintepretation in all that role played by the protagonists of the epic fight against the mortal disease. It is not, therefore, an exhaustive study of everything that round the epidemic, but an analysis of the role played by diverse professionals and the influence that they could have in the course of the disease.
