State of the dialect from El Rebollar (Salamanca): analogies and contrasts with the Extremadura dialects

This work shows a deep descriptive study on the situation of El Rebollar, a region place in the southwest of Salamanca, in a double border area with respect to Portugal and Extremadura and with a vernacular dialect in danger of extinction which shows enough cuantity and cuality distinguishing features as to be defined as an historical Asturleonese subdialect, with a relatively clear defining line in the west with respect to Portuguese, in the north with respect to Castilian and in the south and in the east with respect to the Extremadura dialects, despite the language used in El Rebollar has words taken from Portuguese as well as Castilian archaisms sharing these and some other features with the meridional dialects. With no written evidence until the moment, despite it has received some atention from Menéndez Pidal until nowadays in the Hispanic dialectology estudies. Key words: Asturleonese language area, Castilian language area, Galicianportuguese language area, geodialectal varieties, El Rebollar (Salamanca), diglossia, linguistic hybridisme, linguistic polymorphisme, linguistic minorization.
